Second Thoughts:
Every Minute Every Hour Holds Potential Power

How easy it is to write off a minute, an hour, a day, a year...

Who would've thought that the biggest step towards success one could possibly take, would be as simple as seizing the present moment?

There are 86,400 seconds in a day that we are free to use as we wish. You can think of each one like a blank check that only you have the authority to fill out. That means we get 86, 400 chances every day to change our lives…

All seconds were created equal. No individual one is superior to the other and each one holds the possibility to either contribute to our success or sabotage it.

Think about it, how would your tomorrow change if you did one positive thing for your dream right this second?

Take an honest look at your day, look for a window of time, any little sliver of the day that you might be able to dedicate to yourself and your goal, weather its twenty seconds of twenty minutes

Now, If you're finding it impossible, try this:

  • Write down a hypothetical life or death "to do
  • Now, take a second look at your day and don't be surprised when all of-a- sudden, little pockets of free time begin magically appearing before you.
Somehow, when we "have to do" something we are always able to create the time. Why is it that when it comes to paying a bill, picking up dry cleaning or brushing our teeth we always get it done? In order to make our dreams a reality, we have to give our goals a life or death weight of importance. Making our dreams come true must become necessity.

Too many times we save our best clothes for tomorrow and sadly, even more often we save the best of ourselves. It is so easy to write off today when tomorrow is always "more convenient" and something else is always more important. We have to take ourselves, and the reality of our dreams coming true seriously enough to nurture them TODAY.

So before you have second thoughts take a second and do something good, don't wait for a second chance.

Carl Sandburg said something great:

"Imagine there was a bank that credited your very own account each morning with a large sum of money. But, it carried over no balance from day to day. Every evening it deleted whatever part of the balance you failed to use during the day. What would you do? Draw out all of it, of course!

Each of us has such a bank. Its name is - Time. Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off, as lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest to good purpose. It carries over no balance. It allows no overdraft.

Each day it makes a new deposit for you. Each night it burns the remains of the day. If you fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is yours. There is no going back. There is no drawing against the "tomorrow." You must live in the present on today's deposits. So you must invest it so as to get from it the utmost in health, happiness, and success!

Time is a truly mysterious quantity. When you are enjoying yourself, it flies past; when you are waiting for a bus, it drags by - isn't that true? But time is the stuff from which our dreams are crafted. We must first have our dream, of course, but then our actions cause our dreams to become reality - and our actions are subject to the constraints of time.

Everyday you are blessed with a fresh 24 whole hours to do what you please. If you invest your time wisely, you will turn your dreams into reality; if you squander this precious resource, you will forever be just a dreamer. Your free eBook, How to Live on 24 Hours a Day by Arnold Bennett, can help you with the important business of investing your time wisely. I know you are going to love it..." ~ Carl Sandburg
